Students can sign up to review NCFE terms for their exam at NCFE English I Exam Review on Quizlet.

English I classes are currently working on: (Current unit listed in red)

1. Students will be working on a novel unit.  Students will choose to read either  ​Wish You Well​ by David Baldacci or ​Fallen Angels​ by Walter Dean Myers.  This will be an independent reading unit.  Students must have the novel and study guide finished by April 23rd.   Students will aslo complete discussion questions, test, and essay.

2. DGP- Daily Grammar Practice is a bell ringer activity in which students learn and review: parts of speech, parts of a sentence, types of clauses and sentences, punctuation, and capitalization.

3. MUG Shots- grammar practice in editing sentences which are incorrect. This is done every Tuesday and Thursday.

4. Vocabulary- Every week students will get vocabulary words on Monday (Honors- 20 words, Standard- 10 words).  Homework will be given on Monday and due on Wednesday of every week.  Students will complete assignments throughout the week using these words.  They will be tested on these words on Fridays. Tests will include: definitions, contextual sentences, analogies.

5.  Literary Terms- Students will learn terms throughout the reading they do during the semester.  Students will be required to define terms and keep them in their notes.  Students will use these notes throughout the semester to complete various assignments.  Students can review these terms by going to Ms. Beck's Quizlet Page

6. Exam Review- Students will be working at least once a week on exam reviews to help prepare them for the final exam at the end of the semester.  Practices are under the link "Final Exam Resources."

7 . ReadTheory.org- Every week students will work for 30 minutes on this reading website.  It will allow students to read nonfiction passages and answer Common Core questions.  This website is individualized for each student to help them improve their reading and lexile levels.

1st period -  English I Honors
2nd period - English I Honors
3rd period -  Journalism I-IV
4th period -  Planning

Available to meet:
Ms. Beck is available to meet during her planning period or after school.  Please arrange the meeting prior to the day you would like to meet.

Afterschool help:
Ms. Beck will be after school every Wednesday to help students.  Students need to arrange to stay after on Wednesday by Tuesday at 3:15pm.
