About Me:

I have been teaching at Southern Wayne High School for 10 years. I have am certified to teach both business and marketing courses. I graduated from East Carolina University in 2007 with a BS in Business Education. I also earned my MAEd in Business Education from East Carolina in 2011.

Parent Conferences/Remediation

I am available for parent conferences Thursday afternoons from 3:15-4:00. Students may stay after school for remediation or to make up work on this day.

Online Classroom Environment

In all of the courses, we will use Canvas, which is an online classroom. Students will submit a majority of their assignments in Canvas. Most of the notes, assignments, and quizzes are posted in the online classroom. Students will take multiple choice tests in SchoolNet, which is a testing program. If a student is absent, they will be able to access Canvas to get notes that they misses, as well as make up quizzes and other various assignments.

Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

Students in Microsoft Imagine Academies benefit from world-class Microsoft curriculum and software tools to tackle real-world challenges in the classroom environment. In the first part, students will learn to use the newest version of Microsoft Word interface, commands, and features to create, enhance, customize, share and create complex documents, and publish them. In the second part, students will learn to use the newest version of Microsoft PowerPoint interface, commands, and features to create, enhance, customize, and deliver presentations. English language arts are reinforced.

Students will be required to take the Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint certification exams. These certifications will be listed on students' transcripts. In addition, the certification exams count at 50% of the final exam grade.

Microsoft Excel and Access

Students in Microsoft Imagine Academies benefit from world-class Microsoft curriculum and software tools to tackle real-world challenges in the classroom environment. The first part of the class is designed to help you use the newest version of Microsoft Excel interface, commands, and features to present, analyze, and manipulate various types of data. Students learn to manage workbooks as well as how to manage, manipulate, and format data. In the second part, students will learn how to create and work with a database and its objects by using the new and improved features of the newest version of Microsoft Access. Students will learn how to create, modify, and locate information as well as how to create programmable elements and share and distribute database information.

Students will be required to take the Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access certification exams. These certifications will be listed on students' transcripts. In addition, the certification exams count at 50% of the final exam grade.
