Week 1:  28 Aug – 1 Sep 2017

Course Ref: AS410 “SURVIVAL”/LE 100, LE200, LE300, Drill and Ceremony

Topic:  Introduction to AFJROTC

Lesson Title: What is AFJROTC, what is taught in the course, and what are the requirements of the course

Level: 1st through 4th year cadets

Lesson Objectives:

The first week of class is used to orient both new and returning cadets on the requirements of the program, handout forms for parental signature, and begin uniform issue.

Summary of Tasks:

Prepare returning cadets for 9-11 ceremony.  Orient new cadets on the program requirements and standards.  Hand out forms for cadets to bring home to inform their parents/guardians of the program requirements.  Teach new cadets the basic commands of “attention”, “parade rest”, etc.. to prepare them for the 9-11 ceremony

Handouts; uniforms for returning cadets; basic PT shirts for new cadets

Week 2:  4 Sep – 8 Sep 2017

Course Ref: AS410 “SURVIVAL”/LE 100, LE200, LE300, Drill and Ceremony

Topic:  Basic Standards of Military Uniforms

Lesson Title: Wearing the AF uniform/Fit and Finish; basic military formation commands;  final preparation for 9-11 Ceremony

Level: 1st through 4th year cadets

Lesson Objectives: Provide basic background information on uniform origins, wear, and care.  Provide instruction on basic military movements to first year cadets to help them prepare to stand in formation for the 9-11 ceremony.  Second through fourth year cadets will practice 9-11 ceremony flag folding and flight positions.

Summary of Tasks:  Provide new cadets the basics of uniform wear and care.  Begin the process of fitting them for uniforms.  Issue PT gear to first year cadets.  Provide practice time to returning cadets for flag folding ceremony on 9-11

Materials/Equipment

Initial PT uniform issue, and begin fitting for uniform shirt, jackets, belt, shoes

Week 3:  11 Sep – 15 Sep 2017

Course Ref: AS410 “SURVIVAL”/LE 100, LE200, LE300, Drill and Ceremony

Topic:  Equip the Troops

Lesson Title:  Equipping the troops

Level: 1st through 4th year cadets

Lesson Objectives: No book lessons this week.  Time will be spent equipping the cadets with uniform items, having those that require special sizes be fitted.  Monday will be 9-11 Ceremony.  Tuesday, cadets are fitted for pants and alterations are contracted.  Friday is PT day.

Summary of Tasks: 9-11 ceremony execution on Monday;  Seamstress will arrive on Tuesday to measure cadets who require tailored pants.    Issue all remaining uniform items to cadets this week.   Fit 3rd and 4th level cadets for ABUs;  discuss with cadets upcoming activities, fundraisers, parades, and other items that will affect their participation in the program.

Level: 1st through 4th year cadets

Lesson Objectives:  SURVIVAL:  Provide cadets basic survival awareness; LEADERSHIP EDUCATION: provide  1st year cadets with information about making Drug Free Decisions.  2nd year Cadets are shown how to Understand Their Actions, and 3rd year cadets will learn about Aiming towards a college degree.

Summary of Tasks:  Teach Personal Protection, Chapter 2, lesson 2-5 Practical Application, to all.  Teach LE100, Chapter 4, Making Drug Free Decisions to first year cadets in 3rd and 4th period;  teach LE200, Understanding Your Actions to 2nd year cadets in 2nd period, and Aiming Towards a College degree, LE 300, chap 4 to third and fourth year cadets.

Survival Textbook V-8027G;  PPT slides on the TPS system provided by the AF; hands on with a real survival kit, and group exercise
